Pit Cottage is a two storey extension to an existing dwelling on the outskirts of a small village in Somerset.
The inital preparation works are a large reduce dig, making way for a well reinforced ground floor slab, tied into a ‘stepoc’ block concrete filled retaining wall. Followed by traditional concrete block cavity walls, with a steel frame supporting structure and vaulted timber cut roof. The roofing is double roman clay roof tile with a lead covered dormer inserted into the existing roof overlooking the new extension. Joinery made oak windows and external doors and the external block work finished with KRend. Heat source is through an air source heat pump serving the underfloor heating system on ground and first floor and radiators in the existing house.
Another limited access site, anything larger than a transit is a struggle! Dumper truck and concrete pump required.
