Modern kitchen extension to an existing thatch property, Ashburton
CW Build provided - Residential, building services
CWBuild have been commissioned to construct a modern steel frame kitchen extension to an existing thatch property on the edge of Dartmoor including comprehensive internal alterations to provide a more open plan area which involved the demolition and removal of a large chimney from roof to ground floor level which was originally constructed in 1933 (we found a message in a bottle built into the chimney by the builders!)
The kitchen extension structure was formed with standard trench foundations, blockwork substructure walls with an elevated block and beam ground floor. Steel frame superstructure with mono-pitch timber roof with a cantilevered soffit overhang, zinc warm roof coverings and box gutter. Aluminium glazing and sliding doors finished off with Self-coloured render and larch rain screen.
